Court summons Narayan Murthy

How dare you think we would be bringing
Embarrassment with our poor singing?
You've invited trouble,
Come to Court on the double.
We'll box your ears and leave them ringing!

NDTV.com 26/05/07: A local court on Saturday ordered registering of a criminal case against Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy. The court has also issued summons to him to appear before it on June 21 in connection with a private complaint filed against him regarding his remarks on the national anthem.

After a function held in Mysore Infosys campus on April 8 which President A P J Abdul Kalam attended, Murthy had said singing the national anthem would have ''embarrassed'' company employees of foreign origin and therefore the instrumental version was played there.

Attention please!

Too late in the day did we find
His writings showed his state of mind
Bloodbath and pain
Many lives lost in vain
And all because - we had been blind!

Guardian 18/04/07: The gunman in the Virginia Tech massacre was a sullen loner who alarmed professors and classmates with his twisted, violence-drenched creative writing and left a rambling note raging against religion and rich kids. Read on

This makes me stop and think: Where do we draw the line between imagination, fantasy and a cry for help from a mind that is ill? Could we have averted this tragedy had we not listened with half an ear?

Howzzat!

Their losses had left critics hoarse,
Coach bashing was expected of course;
But this gruesome killing,
Is indeed spine-chilling,
It has cut short a life in midcourse.

For suddenly Bob Woolmer was gone.
To foul play he succumbed as a pawn.
The murder has rocked
Cricket - left it shocked,
But they say that the show must go on!

After to rest he was laid,
Came pouring in heaps, accolade.
The same sticks and stones
That tried breaking bones,
Are hailing him - what a masquerade!
